CSML IMAGES DESK

Photographing the practice of civic science as it unfolds

The CSML Images Desk is home to our developing civic science photojournalism practice. It captures the people, places, and interactions that shape civic science in workshops, conferences, festivals, classrooms, community spaces, and public life.

We are especially interested in moments where practitioners engage with one another and where science meets local communities. The goal is not only to archive images, but to make the field more visible through photography.

WHAT WE DOCUMENT

Trainings, conferences, workshops, festivals, after-school programs, exhibits, public gatherings, and everyday moments of civic science in practice.

WHY IT MATTERS

A picture is worth a thousand words. Images have the power to show civic science in action in ways words cannot.

WHATโ€™S COMING

A searchable image database that will make it easier to browse, discover, and eventually access images across the evolving archive.

โ€œWhen people look back on this moment in history, no one will remember how many books or articles we published or how many grant dollars we brought into our institutions. Our legacies are being written based on what we do now.โ€
