Piquado: What skills do researchers need to leverage their science backgrounds for policy good?

Dr. Tepring Piquado, Executive Director of the National Science Policy Network (NSPN) asks the first question during the Q&A at the Research!America 2024 Post-Election Briefing on what the critical skill(s) the next generation of scholars in STEM and those interested in using their science background for policy good should develop to ‘influence the state of our world.’

Eileen has a BA in Comparative Literature and Studio Film and Videommaking from Harvard University. She coordinates multiple programs on the CivicSciTV Network, and manages the social media posts, and newsletters.

Fanuel Muindi is a former neuroscientist turned civic science scholar-journalist and entrepreneur. He is a Professor of Practice in the College of Arts, Media, and Design at Northeastern University where he leads the Civic Science Media Lab. Dr. Muindi received his Bachelorโ€™s degree in Biology and PhD in Organismal Biology from Morehouse College and Stanford University respectively. He completed his postdoctoral training at MIT.
