We seek to provide opportunities for people to forge a connection to science โ€” whether for the first time or a lifetime.

The Science, Society & Culture (SSC) division is looking for a motivated intern for the summer of 2025. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in developing a career in science and math engagement. This individual will gain insight to aspects of public event programming, grantmaking, and audience development, with a specific focus on supporting the research and groundwork for a national program centered around math.

This paid internship has a 32 hour-per-week minimum requirement and can be full-time. It will take place on-site at the Simons Foundation offices from May 27 until August 15, 2025.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and organize math engagement resources for community groups who might be coming to math for the first time.
  • Collect, organize, and suggest engagement ideas and activities around math concepts like Pi and infinity.
  • Contribute to our communications around our math engagement efforts, including writing and researching stories for the website and other communications.
  • Help team to compile program statistics and prepare a report for the year.
  • Assist with in-person SSC public events, including operational planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrollment in or completion of a bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field.
  • Strong interest in science and/or math.
  • Must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and highly organized.
  • Must be an excellent team player.
  • Software proficient and eager to learn new platforms โ€” must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

COMPENSATION
