Civic Science Journalism Internship
Launched in June 2020, the Civic Science Journalism Internship offers undergraduate students in any field the opportunity to research and report on the latest developments in various civic science fields, including public engagement, science communication, citizen science, and science policy. Through investigative storytelling, interns create in-depth thought pieces that contribute to ongoing discussions and inform future coverage on video, radio, or digital print. The main goal of the program is to give undergraduates the time, space, and community to explore civic science as a field and the career pathways that are possible.
Over a period of up to 3 months, intern(s) are provided a stipend of $1000 ($300/month) and are expected to produce one 1000-word investigative article per month during the internship.
If interested, please email the lab director at mlab@civicsciencemedia.org with your CV or resume, and a pitch for 2-3 potential investigative stories you would like to pursue during your internship. Applications are accepted through the year. See examples of past stories here.
Please note that the program is currently not accepting applications.
