A Focus on Statistical Math

There needs to be a big push to integrate statistical math as early as possible during a child’s education. I think that a strong foundation in math will be absolutely essential for tomorrow’s scientists and other STEM professionals. This is already true now and it will undoubtedly be even more so as we move into the future. So what can we do? The key is sustained exposure to math. Actually, a focus on statistical math will be more ideal. Such core training in stochastic processes, probability, linear algebra, etc., although painful for many students at first, will bear fruit in the end for them individually and for society in general. Of course, this should not be done in a vacuum. Integration with other subjects, such as art (STEAM instead of STEM) is crucial. I believe that the intersection of the subjects will produce innovative thinking and solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems.
